The city of Dubrovnik is located in the very south of Croatia. It is known as "the pearl of the Adriatic".

Founded 1300 years ago, Dubrovnik's attraction lies in the old town of Stari Grad, with its marble-paved squares, steep cobbled streets, monastaries, churches, palaces, fountains and museums.

The City Wall

The main attraction is the city walls, built between the 13th and 16th century. They are over 2 km long and 25 m high with 16 towers and encircles the old town. Five fortresses,Lovrijenac and Revelin together with another three incorporated in the city walls, Minceta Tower, Fort Bokar and St. John's Fortress give to its visitors unforgettable view of the city, a walk along the town ramparts is a must for each visitor.

Our Stay

We stayed for three days in the Youth Hostel in Dubrovnik.Had a great time and met a lot of fun people.

There was a curfew at the hostel that we of course forgot about until it was 5 minutes left. If you were there last year you might remember seeing 5 Swedes running all the way from one of the pubs in the old town to the other side of Dubrovnik screaming like madmen. =)

The next night we managed to charm the receptionists into giving us the spare key so we could come and go as we wished.

You're definitely right, walking the city walls is a must do. However, I would suggest starting the walk very early in the morning to beat the heat. Otherwise, bring plenty of water. =)
