"Skiing in Sälen" Sälen by Psife

Sälen Travel Guide: 15 reviews and 23 photos

Sweden's largest ski area

Sälen is the largest ski area in Sweden and consists of 4 ski resorts: Lindvallen, Högfjället, Tandådalen and Hundfjället. You can buy a ski pass for all places although 1 area per day is enough. Tandådalen and Hundfjället is connected through a transportation ski lift and the ski pass is valid in both areas. Between all the areas are ski busses to bring all the skiiers from their cabins to the area of their choice.

Lindvallen has the most slopes and is the perfect place for families with children.

Högfjället is the smallest place and suited for those who which to ski for a couple of hours and then go out and enjoy themselves on nice restaurants.

Tåndådalen has some of the more challenging slopes and several fun parks.

Hundfjället has a little of everything, from Troll forest for the children to the famous "The Wall", a 45 degrees steep slope.

Great Skiing

I've been skiing in Sälen for many years. It's the nearest large ski resort in Sweden when you live in the south of Sweden as I am. I've been tehre as a child with my parents and together with friends on more party related vacations in later years.

I've been in all the Sälen areas and they all have great skiing, good after-ski and nice lodgings.
