The Nations Capitol

The District of Columbia

G. W.'s House, for now
Our Nations Capitol is full of breathtaking monuments and awesome architecture that remind American where the freedom and uniquities of democracy came from. From warriors to leaders to thinkers, you'll see shrines devoted to greatest America has had to offer. Whether or not you're proud of where this country is going, how could you not be somewhat proud of where we came from? One thing is for sure though, in this city decisions are made that affect the welfare of the world, and the undertone of that power is something you will feel in only a few other places on Earth.

"Washington is the only place where sound travels faster than light."
C. V. R. Thompson.

Visiting the Capitol

When you arrive in Washington DC, try to park near monument row. It is easy to get lost here, as there are many one way streets that do not double back. I always use the Washington Monument to help me find my way as you can see that over most other buildings. But once you are here and park you will do alot of walking, so bring good walking shoes. Also, there are very few bathrooms near the monuments, so handle that detail prior to starting your monument trek.

The National Mall

The National Mall is the rectangular area of land that lies between the US Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial. It is a long walk from the two end pices of the mall, but if you spend the day between the two you will find soo many interesting things to see and do.

Pros:"The monuments and the history involved within the city"
Cons:"Try and find a parking space, driving downtown is horrible"
In A Nutshell:"Every American should visit this place. There is so much to see, and if you understand what in means, there is so much to feel."

I went to DC last year. Everyone said "Why d'you want to go THERE!" but I thought it was one of the most interesting cities in the US that I'd ever been to. Good pages. Brought back memories! ;-)
