Ocean Palace Hotel: 5 Star Hotel... NOT!!! Ocean Palace Hotel Review

This Hotel claims to be 5 stars and at the price you pay (50% more than the average Brazilain makes a month per night), it should be! However, I don't know what or who rates the hotels in Brazil, but the Waldorf this place is not.

Overall, it's about equiv. to a Holiday Inn in the states and costs more. With ancient, thin and hard towels, small rooms, uncomfortable, small beds, mold on the cielings, etc.

We stayed in their most expensive rooms - termed "Super Luxory" w/ Hidro (jacuzzi). Super Luxory = misnomer. And. Jacuzzi = whirpool bath. I mean.. C'mon..

Also the beaches behind the hotel are no good to swim (bad undertow) and you will have to take a taxi to get to the real action and decent beach areas.

You're much better off staying at ANY local pousada on or near Ponta Negra beach strip area and avoiding this place.

Stay elsewhere... save money... have more fun.

O Tempo E O Vento: A Decent Pousada

Very close to Ponta Negra beach strip area (walking distance) with decent ocean vistas and accommodations.

For 50 R$ per night - or less than 20$ USD - this hotel is very nice. Although the beds weren't anything to write home about, the price and location is right and includes free breakfast every morning nice ocean views and a hammock on your room's outside deck - sweet!

They have a nice pool and and the staff was very nice as well. The rooms are the same if you get a double or a single (double is 68R$). For a single they just push the 2 beds together. I found this annoying, since you can sleep on only one anyway.. else you may end up on the floor between. But, overall a nice place.

If you're anything like me, you're only going to be sleeping there anyway.. the location is good and at this price, you can't go wrong.
