Tokoroa is a small town situated 1 hour south of Hamilton, 45 minutes north of Taupo and 45minutes west of Rotorua on State Highway 1. So it's become a bit of a local joke when say to people driving through "Don't blink. You might miss it!"
With a population of 14,427(2001 Census) Tokoroa has always been known as a timber town with the local forestry industry and Kinleith timber mill being the largest employers in the area. It's also very much a farming town, mostly dairy farming.
Growing up on a dairy farm myself, I have very fond memories of the area and the town.
It's a little harder to think of things for visitors to do but here is a short list:
