City of Angels

Now... breathe !

Everything flows
You have heard it all before: traffic in BKK is sooooooooo bad, the air is unbreathable yada yada yada.

Relax: it is not half as bad as it is always described (and no worse than Mexico City if that is any consolation ;-) ). Dont you see the beauty and vitality in these multilevel roads?

True, you stand in traffic at times, and those times can be extended. But even so, there is so much to see in a traffic jam. Life around you is buzzing, even in gridlock, and u have the time to enjoy it at your leisure. Try to stand in a jam next to a public bus or food stalls and have your camera ready.

And besides, I found traffic (and cab drivers) to be pretty fast most of the time. And dont be fooled by stories how long the trip to and from the airport can take, the common quote being between 30 mins and 3 hours. The truth (to me) seems that you are there in no time if you are not cheap and allow the driver to take the toll roads (70 B extra). It will still be way cheaper than any cab ride all of you have taken to and from your home airports.

Pros:"Vibrant, 18th century through ultramodern architecture, great shopping and eats, nightlife, hotels for every budget"
Cons:"Pollution and traffic, but who cares - you dont have to live there!"
In A Nutshell:"Just when you thought how quaint Thailand is.... Back to reality! And be fascinated!"

Wat Po is phenominal. I think it cost me $4 US for a 1hour massage performed by a 5' 90 pound girl with thw toughest elbows in the world. She gave me a terrific massage. I plan on going back to Wat Po and getting another great massage

They say that the monks in Wat Po are reliable fortune tellers, are they?
