The Neath Valley is a little-publicised destination but has some lovely places to visit.
The "Heads of The Valley Road" (A465) cuts through a lot of it giving access to Swansea to the West, and Abergavenny in the East with Merthyr Tidfil and Neath in-between as well as the Southern end of the Brecon Beacons.
The Neath Canal follows the valley roughly following the rivers and streams that tumble along there and which give-rise to a few attractive waterfalls.
The following photo is of the Melincourt Falls, near the village of Resolven.
The canal has an attractive tow-path to walk and is popular with locals and visitors.
I only saw a bit of this but the walk goes-along the canal bank on the north-side of the River Neath.
The famous Aberdulais Falls are further West - National Trust property along with the water wheel etc.
- Pros:Beautiful scenery
- Cons:Rains a lot!
