Malta - Love it or Hate it?

Valletta

View from Baracca Gardens
Lovely city - friendly people and interesting streets. We didn't feel ripped-off, and it was just a pleasant place to visit. Make sure to visit Vittoriosa (Birgu) and take a short walk around Floriana.
The views from the Baracca Gardens are spectacular.
Bugibba Harbour

Qawra/Bugibba

Ideal resort as it is fairly compact with opportunity to escape the very lively parts and find a quiet sanctuary if necessary.
Personally, I didn't think much to the other resorts North East of Valletta. Sliema and St Julians seemed more like working towns than resort destinations - hey! Just my opinion!

Blue Grotto - Worth a trip!

The Blue Grotto is certainly worth a trip - get the bus from Valletta and take-in Hagar Qim temples in same trip.
The boat trips are sometimes affected by weather/choppy conditions so check before you go (bus drivers would know) - if it's calm the boat captain (it's a 6 - 8 seater boat NOT a ship!!!) will take you right inside the caves and show you the coral, beautiful colours, blue waters and explain a bit about the area. All for €3 or so.
NOT to be confused with the BLUE LAGOON which is the area just off Comino Island which can be reached by boat trips from Bugibba Harbour or Sliema etc. Also can be seen from Gozo Ferry.

Pros:"Friendly, interesting, plenty to see and do"
Cons:"Scruffiest, unkempt place I have ever seen"
In A Nutshell:"Treat this as a sightseeing trip - not a beach hoiliday"
