Stayed in this hotel for three nights in June 2003 and the staff win hands down the first prize for grumpiness and unfriendliness.
We had a small top floor room with a view of a roof top building site, with no fan in our room it was unbearable, it was hotter than the 38C outside. With verry little sleep for three nights a romantic trip in a fantastic city could have been ruined was it not for knowing we were heading for the coast after our stay in the 'Bangkok Hilton'.
This hotel location is fantastic, I dare say a room with a view over the plaza with a big strong cooling fan in your room would make this a top place to stay. Sadly, you will unlikely get this, and when you ask the grumpy staff for such a request, good luck, because you'll be lucky if they even bother to look up from their seat in the very cool air conditioned reception they sit in. So why the long faces guys, cheer up you could actually be a guest in this hotel?
