Life in Jeonju

I've lived in Jeonju since early 2004 and have seen and done about all there is to do here. There are many interesting places to go and history and culture abound. From the old city gate, to the peak of Mo-ak mountain and everything in between, most people will be able to find something of interest in this medium-sized town.

The local residents will proudly point out that Jeonju is famous for BiBimBap - a spicy rice and vegetable dish served up hot or cold and a favorite of many people in Korea.

They will also mention the traditional village where you can see the run-down remains of older Korean homes as well as the Gyeonggijeon shrine which houses the portraits of several kings. This is also the place to check out hand-made Korean fans, another specialty of Jeonju.

In the end, every city is what you make of it and Jeonju is no exception. Sometimes you may have to search for those hard-to-find places, but at the close of the day it will all be worth it. So take a chance and wander around, you never know what you may find.
