Split is a fantastic city, and croatia's second largest. Not only is it on one of the most beautiful coastlines in Europe, it also acts as a gateway to the Dalmatia islands and further South to Dubrovnik.
The city itself offers a great nightlife, beaches, fairly cheap food and drink, the historic old town and fantastic views of the coast and enclosing mountains. The train station offers good links with the rest of Croatia, especially Zagreb. There's a good bus service down to Dubrovnik and also a ferry service what takes in amazing views of the coast and the islands along the way (although it does take a little longer). |
