Innsbruck is a mountain city located in Tirol. Because the Tirolean mountains surround the city, it is best known for skiing and hiking, the Winter Olympics were held here in1964 and 1976. The centre has many fine bulidings, something of a remider of the Habsburg Empire, and is easily explored on foot. Besides the centre there is also opportunities to see the mountains, lifts give access to all different parts, in the winter for skiing and in the summer for hiking.
There is also the remnants of the Olympics, the ski jump and also the bobsled track, which can be explored on foot. A local bus service can take you there. |
