Edinburgh is a surprisingly cool place. In the day time there's the usual historic sites - you must visit the castle, its many rooms and jewels and its grandstand view. The castle can be reached from the royal mile, which is obviously a mile of very old and impressive buildings (St Georges house is a favourite). There's Calton Hill which also gives fantastic views of Edinburgh and the castle (check it out at night), Princes st. gardens for taking time out and a good shopping district around Princes St. You can also go and watch a football match in season - Hibs or Hearts? you decide!!! I chose hibs...

At night the city comes alive. I found many cool bars around Grassmarket. Just take a wander and you'll come across something.
