Oamaru is a coastal town located 116km north of Dunedin and servicing Rural North Otago in the South Island of New Zealand.
The Town is famous for it's superb collection of historical Whitestone buildings, and it's rich Victorian Heritage. The central row of trees enhance fine examples of the beautiful limestone buildings along the main street. The Forrester Art Gallery, the Museum, the Opera house and the Historical Precinct, with it's fully renovated Victorian hotel, the Criterion, all contribute to this unique town's character.

Take a trip to nearby Bushy Beach with the Penguin Express and see yellow-eyed penguins. A guided tour to a penguin nest is available from October-February, but penguins can be seen year-round from the public viewing hide. Early morning or late afternoon are best for viewing.
Oamaru Historic Precinct: A fine collection of Victorian buildings built from local limestone. Many have been restored and are tennanted by businesses with a heritage theme.
Oamaru Public Gardens: An excellent public garden with a number of interesting features.
Whitestone Cheese Factory and Cafe : Visit a boutique cheese factory and try some of their excellent product.
Vintage Steam Train: The steam train operates between the historic precinct and the Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony. Runs Sundays, most public holidays and on request.
