Eketahuna lies just north of Mt Bruce on State Highway Route 2. I drove through here on my road trip to Masterton for the day from Napier.
Town facilities include: 18-hole golf course, public swimming pool, town tennis courts and outdoor bowling club.
If you're interested in checking out some rural NZ history pop into Eketahuna Museum.
If you're on the road and need to stretch your legs, there is a 20 minute walk alongside the Makakahi River.
Hunting, fishing and horse trekking are also popular with locals and out-of-towners.
Accommodationwise, you can choose to stay at one of the two hotels in town or slightly out of town at a homestay on one of nearby farms, or on the side of the Makakahi River in the camping ground set into the native bush. |
