Waiheke Island is only 35 minutes by ferry from Auckland, across Hauraki Gulf, but seems like a million miles judging by the relaxed slower pace of life. Waiheke has award-winning vineyards and olive groves. Waiheke is a great place for a holiday or vacation and to relax and unwind. The Hauraki Gulf Marine Park surrounded by clear Pacific waters, is a great place to escape to, away from the rush of the city for a few days. Waiheke is also a popular destination for romantic weddings with venues ranging from white sandy beaches to vineyards and up market restaurants. We spent the weekend there at a friend's hen party and had a ball. Accommodation ranges from private luxury accommodation to B&Bs, backpackers, homestays, and holiday homes, you name it's there. Visit the secluded beach-coves, walk off your brunch one of the many walkways, or just laze on a sundeck with a world famous local wine....... Whether you're into nature or adrenaline rushes, there is heaps to see and do. Swim or sail on the Hauraki Gulf, explore the island by car, 4WD or mountain bike. Go birdwatching and do some nature walks, go fishing, go horseriding go night kayaking. In the evening, choose a quiet romantic restaurant or one of local pubs and relax. |
