I spent 3 days in Istanbul, before starting my ANZAC tour. Istanbul is so alive, lots of noise...colours..people. The carpet shops were fantastic - in Saudi noone gives you apple tea or offers to buy you a shawrma. Everyone on the street was so friendly. It was hilarious the way shopkeepers would say "gidday mate" and "ki ora", and we'd surprise them by replying in arabic - totally catching them offguard. |
