I spent 3 days in Istanbul, before starting my ANZAC tour.
Istanbul is so alive, lots of noise...colours..people.
The carpet shops were fantastic - in Saudi noone gives you apple tea or offers to buy you a shawrma.
Everyone on the street was so friendly.
It was hilarious the way shopkeepers would say "gidday mate" and "ki ora", and we'd surprise them by replying in arabic - totally catching them offguard.

Very funny description of the Turkish bath!

Wow, those baths sound like a beating more than a washing. I've got to remember to pack some pain relief pills for that place. Really wonderful tips, very interesting!

Excellent advice on the "Testosterone-filled" workout facilities! ;-) Someday you will make it to New York City, Bec, just like someday I will make it to Istanbul. Both are on our *wish lists.* I enjoyed your tips here!
