Thanh Binh: Food Stalls
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: Thanh Binh

Nearby the Ben Tay Markey, food stalls sell inexpensive meals.

Favorite Dish: We ate these rice paper rolls with shrimp and pork and spring onions, and some deepfried tofu. Both came with delicious dipping sauces.

Eat & Drink like the locals: Local Fare
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: Cu Chi Tunnels Underground Cafe

After walking around the site of the Cu Chi Tunnels, our guide took us down the steep stairs to yet another underground grotto.
There was a long table with benches to sit on.

Favorite Dish: We were served pineapple and cassava with some type of crushed peanuts and sugar mixture to dip the pieces of food into.
The different textures and tastes complemented each other perfectly. We had the obligatory green tea to wash it all down.

Rex Hotel: Drink with a View
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: Rex Hotel Rooftop Garden Bar

Pop up to the Rex Hotel Rooftop Garden Bar and have a cocktail.
There are amazing views over the streets below and out onto the wider city.
The decor was too kitsch for our tastes with fake grass, mini-pagodas and temples, birds in cages and potted bonsai trees. Finishing touches were the fairy lights and lighted water fountains.

Favorite Dish: The obligatory blue hawaiian went done a treat. The menu looked ok, nothing ground-breaking, but prices were a bit steep. We were only there for the view, so passed on the cuisine.

This place sounds very delicious! A lot of food to experience in Ho Chi Minh. Even the name of the city sounds like Chinese noodle name! Thanks ;o).
