Hopefully I'll make it here again on my Feb 2004 trip.
I remember visiting the Taj Mahal last time (I was only 4) and being awed by the size, gleaming marble and the size of the crowds.
I reckon that the Taj is one of the wonders of our time, it is a fusion of two religions (Muslim and Hinduism) and was built by a man to represent his love. It is said that
Mumtaz Mahal's death in 1631 left Emperor Shah Jahan so heartbroken that his hair turned grey overnight.
Another attraction is the red sandstone Agra Fort, built on the bank of the Yamuna River. The fort's walls rise over 20m in height and measure 2.5km in circumference and contain a maze of halls, mosques, chambers and gardens which form a small city within a city.
Agra is near enough to Delhi - 200km - to be done as a day trip. It's on the major tourist circuit so you can take your pick of transport; plane, bus, or train
