Welcome to my homepage. I am going to try to use it in order to keep track of my trips.. this is going to be a slow and time consuming process as until recently i've never been able to organise my pictures or keep notes of any sort about the places i've visited. (Which, of course, I regret now...) i've finally managed to buy a new scanner, so i am hoping to upload more stuff soon! See my Greece page for a list of the places I have written tips on all pictures are taken by myself unless specified otherwise and unless of course I am in them :o)
...my mind is still in Istanbul, where two continents and two seas meet to form this fascinating patchwork of anatolia and the west..what can I say about this city that has been capital for 1500 years?I have begun to write my tips, but I am sure I will need a long time in order to complete my pages on such an incerdible place. The one thing i still can't get over is the hamam, the turkish bath. i could make the trip again even for one day, just to go to the hamam again :o)

The Difference Between Focus on Problems... ...and Focus on Solutions
When NASA began the launch of astronauts into space, they found out that the pens wouldn't work at zero gravity as the ink wouldn't flow down to the writing surface. In order to solve this problem, they hired Andersen Consulting (Accenture today). It took them one decade and 12 million dollars. They developed a pen that worked at zero gravity, upside down, under water, in practically any surface including crystal and in a temperature range from below freezing to over 300 degrees C. The Russians used a pencil...

| At Panagia Kremniotissa, on Samothraki |
last island i have visited We greeks are lucky since we can visit the famous greek islands very easily :-) my most recent island holiday was to Samothraki, a small island in the north-east edge of the greek part of the Aegean sea, hardly typical of what is advertised as "a greek holiday destination" where I spent a week hiking on it's mountain, and swimming in its rivers. |
| with my friends at the Taj Mahal (pic by Anuj) |
My trip to India was probably the most important experience of my life. This is a picture of me with some friends (indian and greek) at the Taj Mahal. I am the one on the left who is really having a great time!! |
Instead of speaking about myself, I prefer to tell you a joke about what i am "going to be when I grow up"
A tourist walked into the pet shop and was looking at the animals on display. Whilst he was there, another customer walked in and said to the shopkeeper, "Can I have a CAD Monkey please." The shopkeeper nodded, went over to a cage at the side of the shop and took out a monkey. He fitted a collar and lead, handed it to the customer. "That will be £5,000." said the shopkeeper. The customer paid and walked out with his monkey.
Startled, the tourist went over to the shopkeeper and said,"That was a very expensive monkey. Most of them are only a few hundred pounds. Why did that one cost so much?" The shopkeeper answered, "Ah, that monkey can draw on CAD - very fast, clear layouts, no mistakes, well worth the money."
The tourist looked at a monkey in another cage. "That one's even more expensive! £10,000 ! What does it do?" "Oh, that ones a Design monkey; it can design systems, layout projects, mark-up drawings, write specifications, some even calculate. All the really useful stuff", said the shopkeeper.
The tourist looked around for a little longer and saw a third monkey in a cage of its own. The price tag around its neck read £50,000. He gasped to the shopkeeper, "That one costs more than all the others put together! What on earth does it do?"
The shopkeeper looked up and replied, "Well, I haven't actually seen it do anything, but it says it's an Architect."

philosophy and beer
A professor stood before his philosophy 101 class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was. The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He then asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous - yes. The professor then produced two cans of beer from under the table and proceeded to pour the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed. "Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things - your family, your partner, your health, your children, your friends, your favorite passions, things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full." "The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else - the small stuff." "If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out dancing. Play another 18. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal." "Take care of the golf balls first - the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand." One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the beer represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of beers!!" |
