The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

by Rodan44 - last update: Nov 23, 2004

Jordan was the first trip to the Middle East for my wife and I. It is a realtively small country, but possesses a wealth of history, culture, and scenic beauty. It has been ruled by Nabateans, Romans, Byzantines, Omayyads, Turks, and British before becoming the self-ruled monarchy that it remains today. Each of these rulers left their mark on Jordan, leaving it with some of the most important archaeological sites in the region. Jordan's landscapes range from fertile river valleys to rugged hills to barren desert to seaside beaches. The Jordanians are hospitable and welcoming. The country has also managed to remain peaceful and stable despite the recent termoil of its neighbors. It's no wonder that hordes of tourists flock to Jordan. For us, it was a wonderful trip full of great memories, and I would highly recommend it to all other travellers.

Please visit the Jordan page on my personal website to see many more high quality photos from this country.

Your description of Wadi Rum left me wishing I was there.....under the stars & alone in the desert ( of course w/ lots of water and a reliable 4x4). Nice page!
