My wife and I travelled to Chennai, our first trip to India, to attend a friend's brother's Hindu wedding. The wedding was quite exotic and amazing, and the family treated us as VIP guests. We had a couple days to explore the city and found that it has a lot of culture and interesting attractions despite the fact that most guide books rate the city very low. If you go with an open mind, some basic knowledge of the local culture, and sense of adventure, then you can have a lot of fun in Chennai.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Center of Tamil culture.
Cons:Attractions are spread apart and traffic is quite congested.
In a nutshell:It may not be pretty, but there's still a lot to discover.
