There were so many little shops in the Golden Zone. A lot of them had the same stock and usually the same prices. I thought that it was fun looking in each crook and cranny trying to find something different. Great atmosphere and friendly people.
What To Buy: A friend asked us to bring back vanilla. I wondered why. The best deal was real vanilla. In Canada real vanilla is expensive. A large bottle of vanilla that cost $5 in Mexico would cost about $25 in Canada.

Name of Shop: Vendors
Don't fall for the I'm Poor, look. Many of them enjoy a good lifestyle. They are better off (financially) then they appear. This does not mean that you should disregard them. They may have what you want. The prices may be a little higher but very convenient shopping on the beach. It does become tiresome after a while when you are trying to enjoy the peace and quiet.

Name of Shop: Road side vendor
There are many roadside shops. Any trip inland and you pass various shops selling crafts, jewelry, sandals ,etc. We seen a shop that had some wood crafts. Among the things for sale was this headboard for a bed. This headboard was about 7 - 8 feet wide. Very nice but $$ to ship home.
What To Buy: If you can afford it, very nice wood crafts..
