I stayed in Managua, Nicaragua for three weeks in October, 2000. I was part of a work group that provided training for poeple at the power utility ENEL, located in Managua. It was suppose to be the rainy season while I was there, but it rained very little. I had a few days to explore and seen some interesting sights. I hope you enjoy the pics. |
Nicaragua is Llocated between Honduras ans El Salvador to the north and Costa Rica to the south.
Language: Mainly Spanish in the West, English in the East Capital: Managua Currency: Cordoba
The country is covered mainly by jungle with numerous volcanoes (active and non) spooting the countryside. The two main lakes are Lago de Managua and Lago de Nicaragua which is said to contain the worlds only freshwater sharks. These sharks are rarely if ever seen and some say they no longer exist.
I noticed three distinct classes of people. There were many people hawking everything you can imagine, along the road and at trafic lights. The next group of people drove small cars and truck. Almost every car doubled as a taxi. The last class were the very rich and drove vert nice expensive vehicles. |
