Lamcy Plaza is one of Dubai's most popular shopping malls located next to the American Hospital, near the Zabeel Road in Bur Dubai. It was inaugurated on 17th March 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
This five story mall has theme inspired from Tower of London. It is designed in the tradition of a department store. All floors are open-plan concession-style and gives you feeling of shopping in a departmental store.
You can enjoy movies at Lamcy cinema which is attached to the plaza. Or you may listen your favorite songs on exclusive Lamcy Radio during shopping. Lamcy Hypermark at fourth floor is one of the best in Dubai. It offers you great discounts and huge items for shopping. It also offers food items from around the world.
Food courts at ground floor offer you great variety of food. International cusine from around the world is available. Kids can enjoy at fun land located next to food court. This floor also offers currency exchange service, post office, florist, gift wrapping, picture framing, pharmacy, mobile phone shop, shoe repair and photo processing facility. Mostly Dubai's Asian and Eastern European residents come here for shopping.
Interior of the shopping mall is very confusing and you would never realize that you have entered next outlet while looking at products. So try to locate your desired outlet first otherwise you may waste lot of your time.
What to buy: There are 150 outlets offering branded jewellery, perfume, beauty products, ladies wear, men's wear, shoes and accessories, watches, eyewear, kids clothes and toys, household equipment, luggage, camping and sporting goods.
Few of the popular shops in Lamcy Plaza are Paris Gallery, BHS, Guess, Ciro Citerio, Damas, Giordano, Nine West, Indigo Nation, Gasoline, Diesel, Bossini, Bally, Books Plus and Shoe Mart. Although there is great variety of products at reasonable prices but it is very difficult to locate any specific outlet in this shopping mall.
What to pay: Prices are fixed here so there is no game of bargaining.

Beautiful silk carpet
Arabian carpets are famous around the world for their beautiful designs, colors and good quality. Their prices are very attractive and many tourists buy carpets in Dubai and take them back to their countries.
Also there are beautiful Irani, Chinese, Pakistani and Afghani silk carpets on sale at various locations in dubai. Many carpet shops are located in big shopping malls. Open air stalls also sell these beautiful carpets.
What to pay: If you are purchasing these carpets from open air stalls then bargain as much as you can. But if you are in shopping mall then the prices would be fixed.
Theme: Local Craft
One of gold shops in Gold Souk
Gold Souk with its narrow streets is Dubai's most famous market. It is located in Deira district near Dubai Creek. Gold prices here are among the lowest in the world. There is much variety of gold here that I have seen people getting confused about what to buy and what to leave.
What to buy: Here you would find many shops lined with bracelets, necklaces, rings, earrings in 18, 21 and 22 carat normal and white gold. You can also buy 24 carat bars in any form and weight.
What to pay: Prices over here are very reasonable. Mostly they determine the price here by weight instead of design or craftsmanship. But here you have to bargain a lot. Simply suggest the price which you feel is justified. If they agree then buy gold otherwise move to next shop.
Address: Near Creek , Deira, Dubai.
Typical scene in Meena Bazar
Meena Bazar is an ideal place for shopping in Dubai. Its located near Dubai Museum in Bur Dubai district. Most of the shops here are owned by Indian nationals. So most of shoppers here are also from subcontinent.
What to buy: There is great variety of clothes, shoes, electronics, beauty items, perfumes and much more.
What to pay: You have to bargain hard in this part of Dubai. And after bargaining you would find that prices are very reasonable here.
Address: Near Dubai Museum, Bur Dubai.
Carrefour (Al Shindagha)
Carrefour is the BEST place for shopping in Dubai. It has every thing you can think of. This hypermart located inside Deira City Centre offers products of great quality and variety at very reasonable prices. In other words, products here are real value-for-money. Carrefour is always crowded with hundreds of shoppers all the time.
You can also come to Carrefour in Al Shindagha near bus stop in Bur Dubai for your shopping needs. Timings are are 9 a.m. till midnight daily.
What to buy: Carrefour has garments section, shoes, french bakery , electronics section, music zone, fruit and vegetables, frozen food, beauty products, food items, fitness equipment, garden equipment, fresh flowers, kitchen items, house plants, sports items, suitcases, carpets and other consumer items.
Often they have special promotional deals like buy three and pay for two. You would not resist buying items from Carrefour if you entered there. There is huge variety of products and one gets mad about what to buy and what to leave.
What to pay: Prices are fixed so no need to think about bargaining.

Main Entrance of Wafi City
Wafi City is one of the latest, beautiful and exciting luxury shopping malls of Dubai. This shopping mall enjoys Egyptian architecture and the pyramid style. Main building and enterance is also designed in pyramid style. So it never look like typical enterance of shopping mall.
It is located on way to the Al Garhoud Bridge in Bur Dubai . This mall has four spacious floors with world's leading brands having their presence. Information desk is located at main enterance. I would suggest you to get map and guide book from there. Otherwise it might be difficult for you to locate the desired outlets.
Wafi City was opened in 1991 but expension work is still in progress because of its huge beautiful building. Outlets open daily from 10 a.m. till 10 p.m. On Fridays timings are from 4:30 p.m. till 10 p.m.
Wafi City would also be having a five star hotel in near future and more outlets would also be opened. In my opinion, Wafi City is Dubai's most beautiful shopping mall. Its interior is simply awesome. The most beautiful are its color painted glass walls and beautiful glass work on roof.
What to buy: The shopping mall has different parts which make it really big in size. Wafi City includes Shopping Mall with more than 255 outlets, Wafi Residence luxury appartments, Planet Hollywood, Cleopatra's Spa for beauty and health treatments, Pharaohs' club and gym, The Planetarium night club, Ginseng Asian Bar, Seville's Spanish Tapas Bar, Food Court and Pyramids.
Pyramids houses cafes and restaurants. These are Sphinx restaurant and club, Carter's bar and restaurant, Ramesses Cafe coffee shop, Thai Chi restaurants, Asha's Indian restaurant and Medzo Mediterranean restaurant.
This shopping centre is not very much crowded like City Centre and others. Not every one can afford shopping here because of its high standard. Food is also quite expensive. So most of their customers are from Elite class.
Damas, Mont Blac, Piaget, Rivoli, Paris Gallery, Giordano, Versace, Daniel Hechter, Trussadri jeans, Rossini and Swatch few of world's famous brands with their outlets in Wafi City. Many coffee shops, cafes, restaurants, ice cream parlors and food outlets are also there offering delicious meals of your choice.
What to pay: Prices are fixed every where so there is no game of bargaining here. Keep in mind that Wafi City is Luxury shopping mall with Elite class as target market so prices would be higher here.

City centre is Dubai's largest and most popular shopping mall. It is also said to be largest shopping mall in Middle East. It always remains crowded with thousands of people busy in shopping here.
Here you can buy anything ranging from a cheap item costing one dirham to luxurious expensive item costing millions of dirhams. Carrefour, Debenhams, BHS and IKEA few of the most famous names inside city centre. Trip to Carrefour is must as it offers most reasonable prices and you can do most of your shopping from here.
What to buy: No doubt it is the best place for shopping where so many options are available just under one roof. There are so many outlets that one get tired after walking so much. And it becomes very difficult to locate the shops. You can get map of city centre at main gate. Just keep this map with you and for assistance consult customer services counters at each floors.
Most of world's famous brands have their outlet here. Every kind of items are available here. 240 shops, restaurants, food court, five star Sofitel hotel, 11 cinemas , rest rooms, family rooms, mother child rooms, telephone, ATM, currency exchange and huge car parking are few of the services available.
Often many TV programs are recorded at city centre. During DSF, DSS and Ramadan special live shows are also arranged here. There is so much variety that one gets in trouble about what to buy and what to leave.
I have lost words here and I wonder what to wrire and what not to write. All i can say is that you have to experience the right kind of shopping yourself at city centre next time when you are in Dubai.
What to pay: Prices are fixed every where so there is no bargain game. Pay whatever the price say. It is so simple :-)

Inside Burjuman Centre
Burjuman is one of the most popular shopping centres of Dubai. Its located at the intersection of the Trade Center Road and Khalid Bin Waleed Street in Bur Dubai. The shopping mall is open Saturday to Thursday from 1000 hrs to 2200 hrs. On Friday it opens from 1600 hrs to 2200 hrs.
Not every one can afford shopping at Burjuman because of expensive stuff here. So the target market is mostly the elite class. Most of world's high class brands have their presence at Burjuman. But still there are some shops where a budget traveler can go for shopping.
Food court at Burjuman is one of the best in Dubai. It has Pakistani, Indian, Persian, American, Chinese, Thai, Lebanese, Japanese and Middle East's cusine available. Its timings are 1000 hrs to 2330 hrs from Saturday to Thursday. On Friday these are from 1600 hrs to 2330 hrs.
