Belgrade's Sea - Belgrade
Belgrade's Sea

Once and island that has been turned into a peninsula, Ada Ciganlija lies not far from the mouth of the Sava river, only 4km from the city center. Covered by thick deciduous forest, and speckled with clearings and meadows, Ada is now the largest, most beautiful and preferred outing area, beach and leisure spot It was appreciated as an unusual natural resource, even back at the time of Karadjordje and prince Milos Obrenovic (19th century), and Ada was proclaimed public domain in 1821, preserving this status to present day.
In 1967 dams were built on both tips of the island thus giving Belgrade a unique 4,2 km long lake with the average width of 200 m and the depth of 4-6 m. During the summer, nearly 300.000 come here to swim or engage in other recreational activities. The overall Ada Ciganlija area, which includes the smaller island of Ada Medjica and the surrounding waters, is 800 hectares.
The beach on the left bank of the lake is fully equipped with all necessary infrastructure objects. Thus it is one of the largest and most beautiful beaches on artificial lakes in Europe. The lake water is warmer and cleaner than the river water and thus the lake is highly suitable for mass recreational activities. The position, the quality of the water, the existing equipment and the length of the lake make it an ideal site for top rank competitions on calm waters. The lake is suitable for swimming, rowing, kayak, water polo, water diving, sailing competitions, and several national and international championships were held here. Ada Ciganlija has 50 different open-air sports fields.
Ada Ciganlija also serves as a cultural and entertainment center of Belgrade, especially during the summer. Numerous manifestations are organized involving famous writers, actors, singers, cultural societies, choirs, bands and amateur from different fields.

Equipment:
The Ade Ciganlija offer is completed by dozens of rustic restaurants, floating restaurants and boathouses, that preserve the Belgrade bohemian tradition. On the mainland side of the lake, there's a parking lot for about a thousand vehicles as well as the marina in the Cukarica channel for boats, yacht and smaller ships. Ada Ciganlija also has shops, picnic spaces, bowling alleys, mini-golf courts, bungee jumping tower, horse-drawn carriages, and a tourist train, "pedal boats and canoes, as well as the environment-friendly electric-powered boat.

Basketball - Belgrade
Basketball

Both of the most popular basketball clubs in Serbia and Montenegro, “Partizan” (“Partisan”) and “Crvena Zvezda” (“Red Star”) has their basketball field in the heart of Kalemegdan Fortress.
This picture was taken in the middle of December and you can see young people playing basketball. Just next to them, some other young people enjoyed ice-skating.

Belgrade has a lot of temporary or permanent sport spots which can be used for free or they charge you for some small money. This, ice-skating, one is located in the heart of Kalemegdan Fortress during the wintertime. There is coffee bar and place where you can rate skates.

Stadiums - Belgrade

Stadiums

Football

OK. I know that our football is not respectable in the Europe anymore but this was and, I won’t lie to you, still it is important part of mail population in Serbia and Montenegro. We still pay attention on every international match in which our football teams take part. Most popular of them, “Partizan” ("Partisan") and “Crvena Zvezda” ("Red Star"), are still social own clubs (as you can see in their names), and we think that it is the main problem why them can not keep or by some famous stars to push the football goes better.
The largest stadium is "Crvena Zvezda’s" one and it is the on of the largest in this part of the Europe. Before, it could receive about 100,000 funs (now, with the chairs about 54, 000) and it was full for every international match. "Crvena Zvezda" was European and World club champions in 1991 and after that, some well-known European clubs bought Dragan Stojkovic (“Olympic”, Marseille), Dejan Stankovic (“Milan”), Sinisa Mihailovic (“Sampdoria”)…
Now days, football players which went from Belgrade to play in Europe and which mean something in their clubs are Dejan Stankovic (went from “Crvena Zvezda” and now play for “Inter”, Milano), Mateja Kezman (“Partizan” – “PSV”, Eindhoven), Darko Kovacevic (“Crvena Zvezda” – “Real Sociedad”, San Sebastian), Sinisa Mihailovic ("Crvena Zvezda” – “Lazio”, Rome)…

Red Star's funs - Belgrade

Red Star's funs

Football derby

Football has always been a step behind basketball, and that's probably because it's so pampered. The first football match between "Crvena Zvezda" ("Red Star") and "Partizan" ("Partisan") was played on January 5th 1947 and this started the tradition of the "eternal derby". The duel between the city rivals is the football event number one in Serbia and Montenegro, and a specific trademark in European and world soccer. The derby is also a competition between club supporters "Red Star's" "Delije" ("Heroes") and "Partisan's" "Grobari" ("Grave diggers").
