The place where Turkey and Austria signed the 1699 peace treaty (at a “round table”, hence the expression), is called Sremski Karlovci, a genuine open-air museum, a Baroque center of Serbian spiritual and all other life in the 18th-20th century period. The idyllic Karlovci is the heart of the wine-growing area whose quality is demonstrated by some twenty private wine cellars of superiors sorts of wines, the so-called northern type wines.

From all these endless times I'm visiting Novi Sad, I never made a deviation - getting off the train two stops earlier and exploring S.Karlovici, shame on me! THe only time I've been there was ten years ago with school! I poke my head down in shame! ;-)
