Valladolid is the capital of the Autonomous Community of Castilla y Leon. The city has 500.000 inhabitants. If you walk through the city you will see samples of all the artistic styles that have appaered from the 13th century untill today. The latest addition of modern buildings is the Science museum and the footbridge of the architect Calatrava.
Another great place to visit in the region is Salamanca

Pros:A variety of architecture and a very clean city.
Cons:You need to understand Spanish or you will be lost
In a nutshell:Ideal to spend a few days and to see something else than the Costa's.

I was just in Valladolid except it was in the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexcio.
