Welcome to McCrackin Street - the location of the filming of Jon Avnet's FRIED GREEN TOMATOES (based on Fannie Flagg's "Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe"). This street was just a little knockabout place until filming came to town and turned a little place into a tourist spot brimming with cute shops which live in the facades and buildings invented for the film.
It's like taking a step back in time or stepping into a movie!
- Pros:It's a great little place and cute to boot with lots of fun souvenirs to buy!
- Cons:The locals know something about the filming (but probably don't love it as much as you do). They tend to get little details wrong (like spelling Idgie's name like "Idgy").
- In a nutshell:You've gotta swing by if for nothing other than the food - it is worth it!
