There's so much pollution in the air now that if it weren't for our lungs there'd be no place to put it all.

TORONTO Canada

TIME FOR A LITTLE T.O.

Toronto At Night
Toronto is Canada's largest city and is home to over five million residents. Toronto is Canada's financial centre, and continues to be the first choice among new Canadian immigrants.

Once known as "Toronto the Good", this city was once a very religious, uptight place that even banned Sunday shopping. The city became somewhat boring & the only time to have fun was a weekend drive to Buffalo New York. Fortunately, over the last 20 or so years, Toronto has been remolded into a sophisticated & multicultural city.

Toronto is not particulary blessed in terms of physical geography, hence the name HogTown. The reason for this nickname is that Toronto (formerly known as York) was once a muddy swamp. The streets used to flood with mud all the time & pigs from the nearby farms would run around & cause a stir. The living situation was not pleasent back then, especially to the Loyalist migrants from the UK.

Everywhere in this city is flatland, as if the pairies have continued East into this region. It looks kind of like Chicago. The only place with more attractive scenary would be the ravines & valleys, but there is nothing really special about them. The waterfront is a wonderful place to explore, especially the Toronto Islands & streches of it that has parks.

This city is known for mediocre buildings, but it also has many impressive skyscrapers including the CN Tower, the world's tallest freestanding structure. Though the CN tower have more than doubled their admission fee in the last ten years, its still worth it to go up there and test your wits on the terrorizing glass floor or watch a baseball game from bird's eye view.

DOWNTOWN @ TO

Downtown is a very nice place to visit, where you could see new and old architecture mix & match each other. Once known as New York runned by the Swiss, Toronto's clean image might have turned a little gritty over the last decade, but it is still very clean compared to other major American cities.

Being a local who has lived in Toronto for over five years, I have almost seen everything there is to see. If you have any questions and inquiries about Toronto, e-mail me & I'll be more than happy to reply : )

If you also really want to experience the best of Canada, be sure to stop by the superlative province of British Columbia with all its natural beauty & Quebec with its unique culture & flair.

Other municipalities within the Greater Toronto Area include: Hamilton, Richmond Hill, Markham, Vaughan, Mississauga, Milton, Ajax, Oshawa, Aurora, Newmarket, Pickering, Brampton, & Oakville.

Fun @ T.O.

The best quality about Toronto would have to be the many exotic cuisines that this city has to offer. From fondue to Chinese Dim Sum, this city is like a year round international food festival.

Toronto is also the third biggest theatre centre in the world, after London & New York. You can watch anything from ballet to broadway right here! : )

Most notable event in the city is the Toronto Film Festival, one of the biggest in the world.

Toronto is also the self proclaimed HOCKEY CAPITAL IN THE WORLD. Almost every Torontonian (except me) plays hockey here, & though the Maple Leafs (NHL Team) have not won a Stanley Cup for 40 years, people are still really crazy for them.

This page is always under construction! = )
