Even from far away, the Gothic St. Bavo church dominates the city's skyline. Along the banks of the river Spaarne are the warehouses and the stately dwellings built for the wealthy Haarlem merchants and beer brewers back in the 17th century.
You should come and visit Haarlem and take a leisurely stroll through historic streets. Admire the picturesque facades, the monuments and the museums . Walk into one of the many charming shops, the cafe-bars, with their friendly, convivial atmosphere, and the restaurants.
Haarlem is 15 minutes from Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam. The sea, with its marvellous beaches and dunes is a few kilometers' distance from the city. And the Floriade 2002 is just a stone's throw away.
