The small town on the rocky peninsula entering into the sea, for its architecture called "Little Dubrovnik". Since I have not seen Dubrovnik I call the town simply Piran, and Dubrovnik - "Huge Piran". Town's name comes probably from Greek pyr, meaning "fire", as the fire was placed in a lighthouse on the tip of peninsula.
In my opinion it is the most beautiful town on all the Istrian Peninsula, picturesque as Rovinj, but also with great panoramas form St. George Church's Beltry and - the best one - from the old city's walls.
