Walking amongst houses and old granaries - Torun
Walking amongst houses and old granaries

Just go and go through the Old Town streets passing by great historical (but renewed) tenement houses and antique granaries. It is a great experience, I warrant for it.

St Jacob Church - Torun

St Jacob Church

St Jacob Church

One of the biggest and most beautiful gothic temples in Poland. Dates back to years 1309-1340, extended in 14-15th century. At its beginning used as parish church for the New Town.

It seems like basilica because the main church's nave it higher than the lateral. Tower - 49 meters high (the roof from 15th century).

The inside equipment mostly dates back to 17th, but there are also some remains from the Middle Age.

Sailors' Gate - Torun

Sailors' Gate

City Walls

These are the city walls. That part of them, called Sailors Gate, apparently is not the most interesting part of walls (and photo here is caught from the inside not the outside of walls).

There are three remained gates in Torun and some turrets too. I suppose that the greatest attraction is the Leaning Tower (dates back to the Middle Ages) - about 15 meters high and more then 1 meter deviation from plumb-line.

Monstrance turret - Torun

Monstrance turret

Feel the streets!

This is an accidental street scene with the turret in the background.

The turret is called "monstrance" and has an octagon as the shape of its base. It was built in 15th century as a part of fortification in the inner side of city's walls. Now it is usually used for cultural purpose.
