Lingiades the village just 5 kilometres away from the capital of NW Greece, Jannina. But only 2 as the bird flies and 300 metres over the lake surface.
Magnificent view over the plain of the Jannina basin.
The village is more than 600 years
old, when a monastery was established and round it gathered
shepherds with their grazing animals.
It was totally destroyed the 3rd of October 1943 and 82 of its citizens were murdered by revenge seeking Wermacht soldiers.

Note that the first Sunday of October every year memorial services are conducted for the 82 inhabitants murdered by the soldiers of the 1.Gebirgs Jaegers Division (Edelweiss) at 10.00 A.M.
After the memorial services attended by all the local authorities is served to the participants the traditional memorial services lunch with pies mostly and other local type of food. All present in the memorial services are welcome to participate.
