Sweating in New Orleans

by Amareyui - last update: Sep 5, 2004

Big Easy?

French Quarter
New Orleans is a city where all five of your senses will recieve heavy doses of flavor. Chewing a hearty po'boy in a cafe, listening to the street performer, feeling the sweat on your back, and recognizing the foul smell when you again step foot in the French Quarter, the Big Easy can always manage to give you a spoon of sugar with a tasteful of crap simultaneously.
"What to do in New Orleans?" This was the question we are hoping to figure before stepping on the plane. Not being party animals, our choice seemed to be quite limited. After several researches and discussions, we figured to find out what New Orleans had to offer by our feet. Under the flame throwing summer sun, we wandered out of the French Quarter's boundary and ventured into an expedition that included the ground of the dead, the voodoo, and a hardcore night tour in the French Quarter. We covered all these grounds while likely wearing most of our seventy percent body fluid on our shirts. Regrettably, our effort didn't translate to fufilling discoveries.
We wouldn't always treat too harsh of ourselves. Away from the constant state of activity, we chilled out by searching some soul food late at night, Chris Webber style. Or munched on some beignets. But the best entertainment had to be the sighting of drunk men grining sheepishly, flinging their arms while bouncing on their feet, beer bellies vibrating along, and acting ever so innocently just to reach into the air and catched the beads thrown by the prostitutes from the balcony above.
Sugar and crap, Big Easy seems to refine it into one inseparable substance.
