Timing / Weather: Arrive early to beat the crowd
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: The earliest bus to Machu Picchu from Aguas Calientes starts at 6:30. Round trip ticket charges US$9.
Be sure to take the first bus to Machu Picchu to beat the crowd who will arrivie from Cusco at around eleven o'clock.

Fondest Memory: It wasnt even 7:00 when the bus stopped at the Machu Picchu Hotel. After 15 minutes or so, I managed to find a spot and just sat there to enjoy the great ruin with not a single soul around. This was the best way to observe it; without the hordes of other tourists.

    Timing / Weather: Foggy MP
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: Not being able to see the sunset at Machu Picchu was a setback, but the sudden rush of fog was a welcome addtition to give the ruins a mysterious look.

Fondest Memory: The Lost City looked like some kind of Lord of the Rings style citadel with the white blanket, and I was too happy to witness what's in front of me.

What many people who travel to Machu Picchu don't know is that Peru Rail is a monopolistic company sold to the Chileans during Fujimori's tenure. Peruvians have little to do with the price fixing.

Happy birthday. This is a place I always fancied visiting- but it's too late now, more's the pity.
