I spent over a month in Kenya. In that time, I went on many safari's, tried new foods, met new people, and above all got to know what Kenya was all about. Kenya is a country like no other, geographically, it can be quite a paradise, but economically, it is impoverished and the people have to work to survive. It's hard to ignore the poverty when it is absolutely everywhere. If you have never seen a third world country, it's definitely an eye-opening experience.
Kenya is a country that is very diverse regionally, you get everything from jungles to vast dry desert plains. Zebra's, gazelle, and monkeys roam freely in the countrysides and it gives you a feel of what Kenya may have been like a long time ago.
Kenya is quite beautiful, and definitely worth exploring. |
| | Safari The experience of going on a safari is something that is a once in a lifetime opportunity for many, so you have to be VERY careful about where you go, and how you do it.
I went on Safari to Lake Nakuru, Nairobi National Park, Lake Navaisha, and Maasai Mara (The Mara)
The best of all the parks was naturaly The Mara, there we saw the MOST animals. We saw everything from cheetahs to elephants! It was amazing.
Of all the parks, Nairobi National Park is VERY underrated! While we were in Nairobi national park we saw 5 white rhino's with a calf, a black rhino, lots of buffalo, lions, and lots of other impressive animals. It was not as bad as I had expected.
Overall, it was fantastic and next time I'd love to go on a longer tour. |
| | To be continued.... We are going back! In December 2007, I am heading back to Kenya with my entire family. This time I am taking my mother and brother with me to experience East Africa, and I am really looking forward to it!
I think this time we are going to hit up Masai Mara and try to do a hot air balloon ride over the park, and then we are going to spend some time at a resort in Diani Beach near Mombasa.
I am really looking forward to another Kenyan adventure and this time being there with my family. |
