Stuttgart - Underestimated City

by Tallchick80 - last update: Jun 3, 2003

Stuttgart, although deprived of a lot of older buildings, and classical architecture, has spent the post-war years re-building itself into a modern city that embraces the charm of being tucked into a valley, making this large city appear delightfully small. Everything is accessable due to the fantastic regional public transportation systems, and since it's not a touristy destination, it doesn't get uncomfortably crowded. Yet, this town still has a charm about it that can offer some delight to the world weary traveler. The people are friendly, there is lots to see and do, and overall, it's an enjoyable city that I foresee appearing on tourists "to do" lists in the near future!

Pros:"Small town feeling, friendly people, active, lively, fun"
Cons:"Not a destination for tourists, everything closes on Sunday (EVERYTHING!), odd hours of operation for businesses, traffic"
In A Nutshell:"Stuttgart is an enjoable city, and with more time, I believe it will be a great European destination!"
