A quaint fishing village

Bako, or Kampung Bako is a fishermen village located about 37km away from Kuching. It is also the gateway to Bako National Park as the jetty for boat rides to the national park is located here. The boat ride to Bako National Park will take about 30 minutes from Kg Bako's jetty. Registration for visit to Bako National Park can also be done here at the park's small information counter at the jetty.

As a fishing village, you may see the fishermen at work here and en route to Bako National Park . "Kelongan" - a platform-like structure that is used by the fishermen - can also be seen around the village and along the way to Bako National Park . The friendly local peoples here lead a slow life, making Kampung Bako a truely quaint fishing village.
