Sigtuna - Sweden's oldest town

Sigtuna was founded in 980 and is the oldest town in Sweden. Today its a beautiful and charming small town "open" all year round. The most unique is the main street, Stora gatan, that was founded a 1000 years ago and still lies there, beneath 2.5 m of cultural layers.
Other highlights are the three ruins of 12th century churhes, among the oldest churches in Sweden, the runic stones and the monestary church St Marys Church from the 13th century.
Don't miss the charming coffe house Tant Brun "Auntie Brown" or the small luxuary hotel Sigtuna Stads Hotell.
It only takes 1 hour from Stockholm central with commuter train and bus, or 15 minutes from Arlanda Airport.
