Our last trip to Bali was September 2000 it wasn't our frst but our fourth which when you live in Peth it is like going into your own back garden.
We made the trip on the spur of the moment to surprise my sister, her family and my mother, for my sister and family it was their first trip.
A lot of people will tell you not to stay in Kuta due to the noise, crowding adn hawkers but we love to be where the action is. We have stayed in Sanur on previous trips and have enjoyed the peace and quiet but do prefer the atmosphere of Kuta.
I think it has changed a lot the hawkers are a lot less aggresive but now you have to fight off the time share vultures who promise you the world and of course give you nothing. |
|  | February 2004 Just spent 10 glorious days in Bali but it is far from being the hussling mad place it was before the bombing. There are always people at the monument and it is very sobering when you actually see it, read the names and realise how much devestation there was and still is. We saw many places that have now closed which is very sad. |
| | Shopping It is still possible to shop for all things Bali but as you can see from the photo of Poppies Lane 2 there are not a lot of people |

Hi, just to let you know the Bali Hai is closed permenantly, it's owners are bankrupt, and the bank closed the hotel, there is plans to sell the land for development (maybe villa's although some say another shopping area. | nezz Sat Aug 26, 2006 23:35 UTC
