"Amazing Ayutthaya" Ayuthaya by stedeb

Ayutthaya is one of the most amazing historical cities we have ever visited. Approximately 2 hours from the Northern bus terminal in Bangkok. We chose to stay overnight and hire a local tut tuk driver to show us around. Although it is quite compact the heat was incredible. We paid our driver 800bt and he took us to all t he major sites over a 4 hour period. He sat outside each sit e we visited until we were ready to move onto the next.
We chose to stay at the Ayutthaya Hotel which was pretty central and because it was off season the price was no more than we would normally pay for a guest house.
If you can get hold of a book called Thailand Oracle by Jim Rickman I would highly recomend it.
If you can't find the time to do an over nighter you can always take a day trip organised by your hotel in Bangkok. I will visit there again in Sept so will add some photos.
