County Galway is probably one of my favourite places in Ireland (next to co. Wexford). I loved the Aran Islands - even though it rained a lot and I didn't get far around the island - and I loved the nightlife in Galway.

Galway - shopping!

One other thing I loved about Galway - shopping! I bought some jewellery here (not celtic - already have a claddagh ring) and a Galway hurling jersey (for my brother).

A good thing about shopping in Galway is that in the centre there is an area for pedestrians only - no cars! There are many good shops along here, and even if you don't have a lot of money, window shopping is always an option :).

Galway Cathedral

I'm not one to usually be in awe of churches or Cathedrals - but Galway Cathedral is amazing. The architecture, stained windows, marble floors, it is beautiful. Also the sound of the organ is melodious in a haunting kind of way. (Everytime I hear an organ I think of 'The Phantom of the Opera')

I think the only thing that ruined it for me was the fact that there was a souvenir shop just to the left of the centre of the church. It seemed out of place is such a beautiful building.
