In December 2007 I spent four days in the very interesting capital of Belgium - my first time in the country, and hopefully not the last. Brussels/Bruxelles is an amazing mix of modern and aged, clean and dirty, art and graffiti... not to mention the mix of languages. The contrasts of the city may not suite everyone, but I loved it! |
Brussels is one of the few places I have visited where I didn't research anything before I arrived. I remembered hearing about Grand Place years ago, and a vague memory about a statue of a little boy peeing (mainly from the movie 'If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium')... and that was it. So it was a bit of a surprise to come out of the north station at night, and be amongst skyskrapers with flashing colourful lights. I spent the next few days meeting some nice people from my hostel and stumbling my way through the city and having fun. |
