For me Salzburg was a last minute decision. After Venice I was planning on going up to Prague, but stopping in Vienna for a couple of nights along the way. However I had also looked at coming to Salzburg, but thought I would be spending too much time on trains. In the end I realised I wanted to see Salzburg more than I wanted to see Vienna (on this trip) and so bought train tickets and changed my accommodation.

I was only here 3 nights, my first day I was mainly travelling from Venice (by train via Verona and Innsbruck) and took almost all day to get here, so I didn't get to see much of the city on my first day.

But I managed to see quite a bit on my second and third day here. The second day I was here was overcast and rained on and off (with a thunderstorm the night before), I couldn't even see the nearby mountains I had read about. The third day was clear blue skies as far as the eye could see, with fantastic views of the mountains!

I really enjoyed my time in Salzburg and am very glad I changed my plans to come here.
