Nightlife Spot: HG (Ryds Herrgård)

HG is one of the most popular places for Linköpings university students to hang out.

It is especially popular on Tuesday nights when entry is free (20kr for the cloakroom). This is the main night of the week when you'll find the international students here. There is a 'happy hour' from 9pm-11pm. Beer or cider from the tap is only 15kr. On Tuesdays it is open until 2am. There is a dance floor that plays a lot of the latest chart music and dance remixes. HG has two main bars, one upstairs and one downstairs, and a second bar upstairs just for cocktails and shots. Between the dancefloor and the cocktail bar is a blackjack table if you feel in the mood for some gambling.

On Thursdays HG has a live band play - the entrance then is usually about 60kr (cloakroom is free). However, even though the band can be good, the atmosphere after the band finishes isn't that great as the place is only half filled with people.

Saturdays are good as well - with HG staying open until 3am (50kr for entry). The music played is a little more Swedish (pop, dance, hip-hop) and they sometimes mix it up with some old school Green Day or Nirvana.

If you're a student or youth (18+) in Linköping, HG is a pretty good place to go - it's the local hang out, which probably explains the Cheers themes song 'Where everybody knows your name' being played in the bathrooms. :)

HG also does some pub meals and snacks.

Nightlife Spot: Platå

Platå is both a restaurant and a club. I have only been here to the club though.

I usually come here on Thursdays, where entrance is free before 10pm and drinks are half price after 11pm (for the rest of the night). The club upstairs officially opens at 11pm, however there is also a bar, tables and couches downstairs until then. The club upstairs is a very nice place to hang out - it has big comfy couches (in the shape of a 'U' or a booth - which you can reserve).

It has a fairly big dance floor that starts to fill up at about 11.30pm. The music is recent hits off the charts - mainly pop, dance and some RnB every now and then. It's good and easy to dance to.

The bar also has a nice selection of beers, ciders and liquor, and the staff are quite friendly too!

The minimum age limit for the club on Thursdays and Fridays is 20 (or 18 with student ID) and on Saturdays 20. I would say the main age for the crowd at Platå is people in their 20s.

The club section of Platå is open Thurs-Sat from 11pm-3am.

If you arrive after 10pm it is an 80kr entrance fee, and the cloakroom is 20kr.
