Lake Vättern

I have been to the lovely town of Vadstena twice while living in Sweden. This is because the town is of some historical importance. The castle in Vadstena houses historical archives (and one of the four oldest documents kept in Sweden) and is quite a beautiful building.

The Cathedral is also famous as being the main shrine of Saint Birgitta the most celebrated saint of Sweden.

Although the town of Vadstena is small, for anyone interested in castles, cathedrals or history, it is at least worth a day trip - as this town is quite beautiful, both in the winter and summer.

Vadstena sits on the east coast of Lake Vättern, about a 20 minute drive south of Motala.
