Milano

Fountain outside Castello Sforzesco
Hmm... another city that I only stayed in briefly. This was because I was coming from visiting friends in Larvik, Norway and then on my way to meet up with some other friends of mine in Rome. The cheapest way for me to get to Italy was flying with Ryanair into Milan and then to use my railpass to get me down to Rome. But I wanted to see some of Milan, so I stayed here 2 nights (instead of the one I had originally planned for) so I could spend a day walking around the city.
Clock tower and statue, just off Piazza Duomo
It seems that in my travels this year I have done a lot more wandering around and a little less planning in my trips. Which is good because it means I am a lot more relaxed than I used to be. But it can have its downside, like when I arrived at the train station in Milan (by bus from the airport), and knew that my hotel was 6 minutes from the station - but had no idea in which direction! Good thing that they sell maps at the train station :).
And if you go to Piazza Duomo (most likely you will as the Duomo is the most famous building in Milan), you will be surrounded by many tourists, pigeons and maybe meet a guy like I did - he shoved popcorn into my hand and within seconds I had about ten pigeons on my arm. I didn't really trust him at first, but when I realised all he wanted was 2€ for taking my picture with the pigeons I relaxed a bit (so I'm only half-smiling in this picture).
Me and my new friends.

Pros:"Amazing architecture, beautiful gardens, great city"
Cons:"Uh... I had a few problems with the men in Milano - nothing too serious though"
