| | I stayed in Verona for a few days in August. I had just been in Firenze and afterwards would be going to Venice - so thought that Verona would be a good place to stop as well. Verona was actually a bit smaller than I thought it would be (the city centre), but I still liked it. Despite the fact that there were a lot of tourist there (for the Opera and just in general), it didn't really feel like a city that was catering to the tourists - which after Roma, Pisa and Firenze was a nice change. |
So, I only stayed in Verona for 2 nights. I think at first I thought (sarcastically) 'great another Italian city, with piazzas, pizza, shopping (Louis Vuitton, Armani) and gelato'. But I think that was because I had almost had two weeks of that already (my own choosing). And once you realise you think like that, you can look at a place with new eyes and change how you view the city. I think the most exciting thing about Verona for me was going to the opera, as that was a first for me, and I loved it.
In hindsight Verona is definitely much more than what I first thought. It is a great city with an interesting history, and I would like to come back here one day and explore more of the city that I missed out on. | | |

Yes, it is such a beautiful town but can get a bit dull after some time. Hey I saw Turandot around the same time...maybe it was the same night. Glad you enjoyed Verona! | CALSF Sat Nov 19, 2005 04:58 UTC Hi Cassie, I saw Verona a long time ago, but not like this. It was a pass through really. Thanks for the great hotel & resto. tips. |
