Luggage and bags: Due to the warm/hot climate - travel as lightly as possible whilst seeing the sights.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Anything light and breezey in summer (cotton). Definitely bring a hat or buy one when you get here. Sandles are okay for shoes - just be careful, if your feet get tanned/sunburnt then the pattern of your sandle will stay on your feet.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: I cannot stress enough the importance of sunscreen in Cairns! Especially if you are from a place where the climate isn't always so hot. Mosquito repellent will also come in useful in the summer months.
Miscellaneous: Water bottle!
